Whether you're an attorney, or patient reading this, there are two things you need to win a personal injury case.
An attorney. Sometimes I'll have a patient that doesn't have, or doesn't want to get an attorney. That's fine, but I will tell you that patients without attorneys can run into problems when it's time to settle a case. Sometimes your insurance company, or the other involved drivers' insurance company doesn't want to settle your bill. They will try to reduce your reimbursement which ultimately leaves you to make arrangements with your payees.
Having an attorney means that you will now have someone to be your voice-legally. You have no power by yourself to get the settlement check from the insurance company, but the attorney does. The attorney will present the facts to the opposing insurance company lawyer and based on these findings, they will come to a settlement amount, or proceed to the next step which could be depositions and/or court. Fortunately, many times they come to an amicable agreement and the bills get paid.
What's a good attorney without a good chiropractor? Why do you need to see a trauma trained chiropractor for your auto accident? Well, I mentioned that the attorney needs facts in the case to prove to the insurance company that you have an injury that has a prognosis, diagnosis and treatment plan. Trauma trained chiropractors know how to correlate causality to bodily injury, and bodily injury to functional loss. We take the subjective complaints and prove it with objective findings. That is not always easy, because insurance companies like to scrutinize evidence and unless you have a doctor that is qualified to do this, you may be jeopardizing your case. Chiropractors and attorneys work well together. We need each other to bring a case together so you can get the care you need and get the settlement you deserve.
